Kobe Pauwels is gearing up to TCR

For the 2023 season, Kobe Pauwels has chosen TCR Europe as his main programme. The 18-year-old will
make his debut in that category together with the well-known Comtoyou Racing. After a successful 2022
season for the both of them, Kobe taking the euro RX3 title in rallycross and Comtoyou Racing clinching
both titles in the drivers and teams championship in TCR Europe, they will now join forces to achieve new
goals.
Although Kobe is changing categories, he will still remain within the same brand. After his success in the last 2
years in an Audi A1 built by Volland racing, he will now be at the wheel of an Audi RS3 LMS and look for the
same successes in this series. The championship will be defined by 14 races, held on 7 different tracks all over
Europe. The teenager started circuit racing last year with a few outings in national competition, and raced on
the legendary track of Spa. The latter will be the 2nd race of the season, where he aims to perform well in front
of the fans cheering him on. The other 6 tracks on the other hand, will be completely new to him.
Comtoyou Racing have brought many drivers to the top of racing. They have been competing mainly in WTCR,
TCR Europe and the VW Fun Cup, all at the front of the field. They expand their team for 2023 as they will be
competing in GT3, all managed by the team manager Francois Verbist. "We are extremely glad and look
forward to having Kobe in one of our Audi’s for 2023. We have already had 2 test runs together and both Jean
Michel and myself instantly saw a big opportunity for success. Combining our winning experience of TCR
championships with his talent makes a really competitive package. Our target is clear: we want to keep both
European titles (team & driver) with us and wave the Belgian flag as much as possible"
Kobe has loads of experience with karting, rallycross and Xcar. The last couple of years, he has been active on
the dirt side of the paddock, something completely different from the touring car series, but he feels very
excited to start this new adventure. "There are definitely some similarities with rallycross; we have a standing
start where the launch will be just as important as in TCR. From turn one to the chequered flag, we will have
close door to door racing”, something that he is accustomed to.
Kobe Pauwels: " I also have to learn a lot of new things, such as tyre management and car behaviour. It will be
a challenge to perform right from the beginning. I am a rookie and not familiar with most of the tracks, but we
have a good test programme before the start of the season in order to get used to the car, tracks and
different circumstances. First of all, I want to enjoy myself and hopefully the good results will follow. Given the
fact that this all has been made possible thanks to my small and big partners, I would love to give them some
trophies in return for their confidence!"
